<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small">SOME DATES TO REMENDER:</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small"><div dir="ltr" style="font-family:"Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;font-size:16px">The Family Reunion Church service will be held during the Family Reunion, Sunday August 27, 2023 </div><div dir="ltr" style="font-family:"Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;font-size:16px">The Ice Cream Social is  Saturday, August 26  at 6 pm,</div><div dir="ltr" style="font-family:"Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;font-size:16px">Donated items for the Tent sale will be accepted on Saturday, August 26 from 10am until 6pm</div></div><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small">---------------------------------------------------------------------------</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small"><br></div></div><div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small">NEWSLETTER:</div></div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr"><span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small"></span>Snell-Zimmerman-Timmerman---Summer Newsletter----2023</div>Reminder---- the SZT family reunion will be held on August 27, 2023 this year. We are changing the date<br>from the first Sunday in August to the last Sunday in August. The reunion was held the last Sunday in<br>August from 1938------ 1990’s when it was changed. We are now holding it the last Sunday just like it<br>was in earlier times. We hope more members will be able to come to the reunion and visit our<br>historic Snells Bush Church.</div><div><br>We will hold a tent sale on August 26 from 10 am to 6 pm. Donations will be accepted for the sale<br>and all profits will go to the Snells Bush Church as a fundraising event. At 6 pm Saturday we will hold<br>our annual ice cream social. It is always great to have a<span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small">n</span> ice cream sundae and watch the sunset over<br>the valley. It is so calming and peaceful to just to be there.<br>It was a sad historic day on June 10, 2023---- Major General Philip Schuyler statue was torn down.<br>Mayor Kathy Sheehan of Albany NY said he needed to go as when he lived he was the biggest slave<br>owner in Albany. He stood outside city hall and the state capitol building for over a century.</div><div><br>Description<span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small"> </span>-<br>The statue was dedicated on June 14 ,1925, donated by George C. Hawley to honor his wife Theodora.<br>It is a bronze statue of 114 in tall and 65 inches in diameter resting on a marble base of approximately<br>87 inches tall and diameter of 115 inches, and it was designed by J Massey Rhind a Scottish born<br>Sculpture. General Schuyler wears a military uniform including a cape and hat and has his arms<br>folded in front. An inscription plaque reads:</div><div><br></div></div></div></div><blockquote style="margin:0 0 0 40px;border:none;padding:0px"><div><div class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div><div><span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small">"</span>presented in loving memory of/ his wife Theodora M Hawley to the/ city of Albany by George C</div></div></div></div><div><div class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div><div>Hawley / MCMXXV / Citizens Committee /Hon. Wm S Hackett, Mayor Frank B. Graves, /Hon.</div></div></div></div><div><div class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div><div>Wm.E Woollard Dr.Arthur W. Elting, ” (reference--Wikipedia encyclopedia)</div></div></div></div></blockquote><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><br></div><div>Under the statue, the pedestal contained a 1920 time capsule containing letters from the Schuyler<br>family, maps, flag and so forth. They can be viewed at the Albany State Museum.</div><div><br>The Schuyler Mansion overlooks the Hudson River and it was a seat of power in the city of Albany.<br>General Schuyler was constantly working with famous people -<span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small"> </span>Ben Franklin, Alexander Hamilton,<br>Aaron Burr, and others who worked to shape our country. General Schuyler was a<span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small"> </span>friend of the Six<br>Nations<span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small">,</span> was the leading force for the Battle of Saratoga, served as senator many times<span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small"> </span>- serving to<br>create<span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small"> </span>-- the US Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and other important documents.<br>It is sad that our country has decided not to honor these heroes. We<span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small"> -</span>
