and chilly this year. We had our springboard meeting in May and will again be
working on our historic Snells Bush Church and cemeteries. This year we will
hold our <b>annual reunion on Sunday August
24, 2025</b> a week earlier than the last week in August---- due to Labor Day
weekend. <b>An ice cream social will be
held on August 23, 2025 Saturday at 6pm--our only fundraiser. This year we want
to</b> <b>celebrate America 250!!</b> We also want to remind our members that we
are very proud of the Tryon County Committee of Safety, who wrote a Declaration
of Independence for our region as one of the first declarations written in
America. In 1976 we at Snell Bush
placed a stone with the plaque honoring the Tryon County Committee of Safety
and declaring the declaration. built Snells Bush Church and homesteaded on the frontier struggled to build a
community, ward off Indian and Tory attacks, clear land for farming and raise

repairs and painting of the interior ceiling of the church. We will need
donations to complete the job as it is a large area to paint and repair the
cracks. The ceiling has not been worked on in many years. The stain glass
windows at the front of the church will have LED spotlight to illuminate them.
We will also be straightening the stones in the cemetery and placing a sign on
the lower cemetery. As of now there is no sign there. Mowing of the cemeteries
will continue and after mowing the area around the church it looks terrific. We
have 2 weddings scheduled this fall. On April 7, 2025 we had two baby girls
baptized at the church. We have a lovely
handicap ramp in place at the front of church to make it easier for handicap
members to attend. We are planning to
set up a genealogy library on the balcony where members will be able to do
research on their family lines. </span></p>

It is a great time to stop and visit and enjoy eating ice cream while
watching the sun set over the valley. The reunion will be held on Sunday August
24, 2025 with a flag raising ceremony at10 am followed by a dedication of our
patriots that are buried at the church cemetery. At 11 am the bell will ring to
invite everyone to attend our traditional family worship service in our lovely
historic church. A short business meeting will be held after the church service
where issues can be discussed and an overview of our activities. A catered luncheon will be in the tent with
presentations by the Tryon County Militia and others. Books--- Books---- we have genealogy books
that tell about our families living on the frontier and traveling across the
country and homesteading in various states.
